Whilst mitigation means working to reduce greenhouse gases, adaption contrasts by focussing the efforts on trying to control the environmental damage instead of trying to reduce it.
In wastewater transport and treatment aerobic means that oxygen is available and that it can be used as an oxidation agent in the degradation of organic matter.
Air cooler
The function of an air cooler is similar to that of an evaporator. What makes it diff. is the type of cooling medium it uses.
Airlift pump
The airlift pump – also called mammoth pump – exploits the increase of the oxygen intake in water under pressure.
Ambient condition
“Ambient conditions” is a set of parameters used by designers for dimensioning ventilation and cooling systems.
Anaerobic conditions under wastewater transport and treatment imply that neither nitrate, sulphate nor oxygen are present for the decomposition of organic matter.
Anoxic conditions, as for anaerobic conditions, indicate the absence of pure oxygen. However, compounds such as nitrate or sulphate can be present under anoxic conditions.
