México’s pearl of the west, Guadalajara is the second largest city in the country. Visit this exciting city, and you’ll experience a busy metropolis, thriving in its place as a major business and cultural centre.
Guadalajara’s history dates to the 16th century and the rich heritage of México’s colonial gem is evident everywhere you look. It is the birthplace of the mariachi bands known for the excellent Mexican craftsmen who turn out countless handmade items treasured the world over.
When the local water supply authorities needed to establish a reliable water delivery system with low energy consumption, they chose to work with Grundfos. A close dialogue ensured a solution to meet their needs with regards to responsibility, foresight, and innovation.
The water supply costs in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, Mexico were considerable. The Intermunicipal System for Drinking Water and Sewage (SIAPA) needed to lower them, while at the same time ensuring a reliable and efficient water supply service. Failing to do so would be irresponsible in regards to the city’s residents.
The Grundfos Solution
As responsible solution providers, Bombas Grundfos de México recommended that the SIAPA replace their current pumps with highly efficient Grundfos SP pumps.
The high efficiency and low power consumption provided by these all-stainless steel submersible pumps helps lower water intake costs. As energy consumption represents approximately 85% of a pumps total life cycle costs, it is a most important factor to consider. The full range of Grundfos submersible pumps allow for important savings in energy costs given their efficiency and reliability.
The Grundfos sales team designed an optimal solution for several SIAPA wells. They also supported the customer during the technical selection of the 75 SP pumps, in diameters of 6”, 8” and 10”. A CU3 monitoring and control system was also installed to ensure that the pumps function optimally.
The Grundfos pump solution helped the SIAPA in Guadalajara achieve a 20% savings in their energy consumption during the first year of pump operation. This reduction helps fight environmental problems, a matter that Grundfos takes very seriously in line with their core value of Be responsible. Grundfos believes that being responsible means thinking about the long-term, global effects of your actions.
This success has led the SIAPA to considering replacing a great number of its current pumps with Grundfos pumps in the near future. Grundfos has indicated that they will help SIAPA however possible, in line with Think ahead, another Grundfos core value.
